3.1. Initial Power-Up and Pairing
The FP300 is powered by two replaceable CR2450 batteries. To activate the device, remove the insulation tab from the battery compartment. The LED indicator will start flashing slowly, indicating it's in network pairing mode.
If the network pairing times out, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds until the LED indicator starts flashing, then release it to re-enter device pairing mode.
To add the device, open the Aqara Home app, press the "+" icon in the upper right corner, and select "Presence Multi-Sensor FP300". You will then choose between Zigbee or Thread as the connection protocol. Ensure the device's firmware is updated to the latest version for optimal performance.

3.2. Protocol Selection (Zigbee vs. Thread)
The FP300 supports both Zigbee and Thread protocols. Your choice of protocol will affect available features and settings:
- Zigbee Protocol: Supports more Aqara exclusive functions, with more stable and faster local linkage. Requires an Aqara Zigbee gateway (hub) for full functionality. This mode offers longer battery life (up to 3 years) and access to advanced settings like AI Spatial Learning and customizable detection ranges.
- Thread Protocol: Can connect to third-party Matter ecosystem platforms, suitable for multi-brand device interconnection. Requires a compatible Thread Border Router and Matter Controller. In Thread mode, all sensors are used all the time, leading to slightly shorter battery life (up to 2 years) and potentially less access to granular settings/features compared to Zigbee mode within the Aqara app.

Figure 2: This image illustrates the dual-protocol support of the Aqara FP300, showing its compatibility with both Zigbee (requiring an Aqara Hub) and Thread (requiring a Thread Border Router).

4.1. Precise AI-Powered Presence Detection
The FP300 utilizes a combination of 60GHz mmWave radar and PIR sensors to accurately detect human presence. The mmWave radar is capable of detecting subtle movements, such as breathing, ensuring that lights and devices remain on even when you are stationary. The PIR sensor provides quick initial motion detection to trigger automations promptly.

Figure 3: The image shows the dual mmWave and PIR sensors in action, detecting both motion and motionless presence in a room, ensuring accurate occupancy sensing.
4.2. 5-in-1 Multi-Sensor Functionality
Beyond presence detection, the FP300 incorporates light, temperature, and humidity sensors. These additional sensors enable a wider range of automation possibilities:
- Ihe mmetụta ọkụ: Allows for adaptive lighting control, adjusting light levels based on ambient brightness and occupancy.
- Temperature & Humidity Sensors: Can be integrated with thermostats, humidifiers, heaters, or air conditioners for energy-efficient climate control based on room conditions and occupancy.

5.1. AI Spatial Learning
The FP300 features advanced AI Spatial Learning, which allows the device to learn its surroundings and continuously optimize sensitivity. This reduces false triggers and ensures accurate detection. To initiate AI Spatial Learning, ensure the detection area is empty of moving objects (pets/people) and follow the instructions in the Aqara Home app. This process helps the sensor to ignore interference sources and accurately recognize unoccupied spaces.

Figure 6: The FP300 utilizes AI-powered detection to understand its surroundings and automatically adjust sensitivity for optimal performance.
5.2. Customizable Detection Range
In Zigbee mode, the FP300 allows for customization of the radar detection range. You can adjust the maximum detection distance up to 6 meters and even create specific detection zones or exclude non-detection areas within the sensor's range. This feature helps to avoid interference from objects outside the desired detection zone and improves accuracy within specific areas.

Figure 7: The Aqara Home app provides extensive customizable settings for the FP300 in Zigbee mode, including detection range and sensor reporting frequency.
5.3. Presence Detection Sensitivity
The presence detection sensitivity can be adjusted (High, Medium, Low) to suit different room types and usage requirements. Higher sensitivity is suitable for rooms with minimal body movement (e.g., bedrooms, studies), while lower sensitivity might be preferred for complicated rooms with many plants or curtains.
5.4. Absence Delay Timer
You can set a custom delay before the device reports
