1. Prepare the Sink Opening
- Turn off the power to the garbage disposal at the circuit breaker.
- If replacing an existing flange, remove the old flange and clean the sink opening thoroughly. Remove any old plumber's putty or sealant.
- Ensure the sink opening is dry and free of debris.
2. Apply Plumber's Putty
Roll a bead of plumber's putty (approximately ½ inch thick) and apply it around the underside of the Kohler disposal flange rim. Ensure a continuous seal.

3. Position the Flange
- Insert the flange into the sink opening from above, pressing down firmly to create a seal with the putty.
- From underneath the sink, attach the fiber gasket, backup flange, and mounting ring to the disposal flange.
- Tighten the screws on the mounting ring evenly until the flange is secure and excess putty squeezes out from around the rim. Wipe away any excess putty.
4. Connect the Garbage Disposal
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for your specific garbage disposal unit to attach it to the newly installed disposal flange. Ensure all connections are tight and leak-free.
