For initial configuration or troubleshooting, connect to the console port:

  1. Connect an RJ45-to-DB9 console cable (or USB-to-RJ45 adapter) from your management workstation to the CONSOLE port on the rear panel of the FortiSwitch.
  2. Configure your terminal emulation software (e.g., PuTTY, Tera Term) with the following settings: Baud Rate: 9600, Data Bits: 8, Parity: None, Stop Bits: 1, Flow Control: None.
