4.1 Inserting a Lancet

  1. Unscrew the cap from the lancing device.
  2. Insert a new, sterile lancet firmly into the lancet holder.
  3. Twist off the protective cap from the lancet. Retain this cap for safe disposal later.
  4. Replace the lancing device cap by screwing it back on.

4.2 Adjusting Penetration Depth

The lancing device features 6 adjustable depth settings. Rotate the cap to select the desired depth. A higher number indicates a deeper penetration.

5.1 Performing a Blood Sample (Fingerstick)

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry them completely.
  2. Ensure a new lancet is inserted and the depth setting is appropriate for your skin type (refer to Section 4.2).
  3. Pull the cocking control back until it clicks. The device is now armed.
  4. Debe ngwaọrụ ntu ahụ nke ọma n'akụkụ mkpịsị aka gị.

  6. Gently massage your finger from the base towards the tip to form a blood drop. Do not squeeze excessively.
  7. Apply the blood drop to your glucose meter test strip as instructed by your meter's manual.

5.2 Alternative Site Testing (AST)

The FORA Lancing Device includes a clear alternate site end cap for testing on areas other than the fingertip, such as the forearm or palm. Consult your healthcare professional before performing AST, as results from alternative sites may differ from fingertip results, especially during periods of rapid glucose change.

  1. Remove the standard cap and replace it with the clear AST cap.
  2. Select a suitable depth setting (AST generally requires a deeper setting due to thicker skin).
  3. Pull the cocking control back until it clicks.
  4. Press the clear AST cap firmly against the chosen alternative site (e.g., forearm or palm) and hold for a few seconds to create a vacuum.
  5. Pịa bọtịnụ ntọhapụ.
  6. Gently massage the area to form a blood drop.
  7. Apply the blood drop to your glucose meter test strip.

Proper disposal of used lancets is crucial to prevent accidental needle sticks and the spread of infection.

Two-step illustration for safely disposing of a used lancet: 1. Safely dispose by pushing the exposed tip into a protective disk, 2. Slide the ejector forward to remove the used lancet.
