  4. Ike Na: Press the power button on the rear of the enclosure to turn it on.

3. Ịtọ ọnọdụ RAID

The Yottamaster PS500C3 supports multiple RAID modes. Important: Setting or changing the RAID mode will clear the contents of the hard disk. Please back up important data before using the old hard disk.

The RAID mode is configured using DIP switches located on the rear panel. Refer to the diagram below for specific switch settings for each RAID mode.

RAID Mode DIP Switch Settings
DIP switch configurations for various RAID modes.
  • RAID 0 (Fast Speed): Switches 1, 2, 3, 4: DOWN – DOWN – DOWN – UP
  • RAID 1/10: Switches 1, 2, 3, 4: DOWN – UP – DOWN – UP
  • RAID 3: Switches 1, 2, 3, 4: DOWN – UP – UP – UP
  • RAID 5 (Comprehensive): Switches 1, 2, 3, 4: UP – DOWN – UP – UP
  • Span (Big) / JBOD: Switches 1, 2, 3, 4: DOWN – UP – DOWN – UP
  • Normal / Clear (PM Mode): Switches 1, 2, 3, 4: UP – UP – UP – UP

After setting the DIP switches, press the 'SET' button to apply the changes. Power cycle the device if necessary.

2. Nyefee data

Once connected and powered on, your computer should recognize the enclosure as an external storage device. You can then drag and drop files to and from the enclosure. The USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface supports transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps, allowing for fast and efficient data movement.

Fast data transmission
The enclosure supports up to 5Gbps transmission speed and TRIM for improved performance.

3. RAID Mode Functionality

Understanding the different RAID modes is crucial for optimizing your storage. Here's a brief overview:

RAID Mode Table
Table detailing various RAID modes, their disk requirements, capacity, security, and speed characteristics.
  • RAID 0 (Fast Speed): Requires at least two disks. Combines disks into one logical unit, doubling the theoretical speed of a single disk. No data redundancy.
  • RAID 1 (High Security): Requires two disks. Mirrors data across both disks, providing high data redundancy. Capacity is limited to the size of one disk.
  • RAID 3 (Fast and Safe Reading): Requires at least 3 disks. Uses one disk for error correction data. If one disk is damaged, data can be recovered. Requires disks of the same capacity.
  • RAID 5 (Comprehensive): Requires 3-5 disks. Combines RAID 0 (speed) and RAID 1 (security) features. Offers good read-write ability and security.
  • RAID 10 (RAID 0 + RAID 1 Combination): Requires 4-5 disks. Combines the high speed of RAID 0 with the security of RAID 1.
  • Clone: Creates an exact copy of one disk onto another.
  • JBOD (SPAN) (Large Capacity): Combines multiple disks into a single large logical volume. Data is written sequentially across disks. If one disk fails, all data on the JBOD volume may be lost.
  • PM (Normal) Mode (Single Disk Reading): Each hard disk is read independently, similar to mobile hard disks. Other hard disks are not affected if one fails.

Always ensure you understand the implications of each RAID mode on data redundancy and performance before configuration.

4. Sleep Energy Saving

The enclosure is designed with a sleep energy-saving feature. If there is no read-write activity for 10 minutes, the device will automatically enter a sleep state. This prevents the hard disk from invalid reading and writing for prolonged periods, reduces noise, and conserves power.

Sleep Energy Saving Feature
The enclosure enters sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity to save energy and reduce wear.
