Once properly set up and calibrated, the Zerone External S Meter provides real-time readings for various radio parameters. The meter's needle will indicate values on the selected scale (SIG, PWR, SWR, MOD, VOLT, DISC) based on your radio's operation mode (receive or transmit).

Refer to your Yaesu FT-857D or FT-897 transceiver's manual for specific interpretations of these readings in different operating scenarios.

Nlekọta

The Zerone External S Meter is designed for durability. Regular maintenance is minimal but important for continued accuracy and longevity.

  • Keep the meter clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the casing and display face.
  • Avoid exposing the meter to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • If the meter's pointer does not return to zero when the unit is off or disconnected, it may be due to transit bumps. In such cases, carefully adjust the self-zeroing screw located on the mask-side of the instrument. This screw is typically black.
