- Fit the guide bar onto the chainsaw studs, ensuring the chain is seated correctly in the guide bar groove and around the drive sprocket.
- Install the side cover and hand-tighten the retaining knob.
Adjusting Chain Tension (Tool-Free)
The DCM575N-XJ features tool-free chain tensioning for quick and easy adjustment:
- Loosen the side cover retaining knob slightly.
- Turn the chain tensioning ring (usually located on the side cover) clockwise to increase tension or counter-clockwise to decrease tension.
- Proper tension is achieved when the chain can be pulled away from the guide bar by about 2-3 mm at the center, but still snaps back into place when released. The chain should move freely around the guide bar.
- Tighten the side cover retaining knob securely.
